Her Name Was Rosa

She chose the name Rosa because she admired a woman who stood up for what was right when the world was telling her she was wrong.

She chose the name Rosa because her name in her native tongue was lost to her by the parents who abandoned her.

She chose the name Rosa when at 13 she started hitchhiking west across the TransCanada Highway.

She chose the name Rosa when a *kind* white man picked her up and drove her to his house.

She chose the name Rosa when she was being raped, abused, and tortured because of the colour of her skin.

She chose the name Rosa for all the times she cried out at the world and the injustice being done to her and others like her.

She chose the name Rosa when her husband had enough of her and had finally ended it.

She chose the name Rosa as she lay broken and dying, just another lost child that no one cared about.

She chose the name Rosa when her husband planted the rose bush above her backyard grave.

She chose the name Rosa because one woman dared to do what she could not.

Her name was Rosa, and she is a growing list of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women who fall through the cracks.

Her name was Rosa.

I am a fantasy/sci-fi/smut writer, my first book "Love and Pain in Zion" is available on Amazon. I have also started scribing for Medea, the Sorceress of Colchis on the blog Curse of the Fallen (https://curseofthefallen.wordpress.com). It has been a wonderful challenge to try and write from her perspective, in the modern world. My husband and I are planning on opening up a New Age/Metaphysical store, where I am running the storefront and he is running the services in the back. Since he is already a licensed interfaith minister and can perform weddings in Ontario, and a Reiki master, we can start offering services soon. I am enrolled in Witch School International as a seminary school of the Correllian Nativist Tradition. I have completed my First Degree clergy status, and am almost finished my Second Degree. Brian and I run a local temple (Temple of the Night) which is a part of the Correllian Nativist Tradition. We are currently the only temple with full temple status in Canada.
