I would initially define my brand, or myself, as easy-going. I am normally a go-with-the-flow kind of person, who just let the waves take me where I need to go. This has helped me in my work life because when problems arise, I am able to keep calm and steady while dealing with them. This characteristic has been a difficult one though to work with while I was in school, as it assisted me in procrastinating on assignments. “Oh, I’ll get to it soon,” or “I have plenty of time to complete this assignment” are some of the most common phrases that I spoke while in university. It is something I have worked to overcome when it comes to deadlines.
I believe that this is something that employers have noticed once I start working. When I meet a potential employer, I hope that I portray a calm and professional demeanor, but someone who is approachable, both by staff who are in positions above me and if I would have any staff reporting to me. I attempt to show the same person to all levels of staffing. I also hope that potential employers would see a hard worker, someone devoted to their job with strong work ethics.
As a brand, I know that I need to find a balance between the hard working me, who gives her all in her work, and the easy going, letting the waves guide me person to show that I can do any task given, with minimal oversight, once I’m comfortable doing said task. If I have not been taught how to do something, I will try to ask for help, but that is another aspect that I need to improve on, or I will try to figure it out myself to show that I am resilient and can overcome an obstacle put in front of me.
